Film Tampa Bay Nominated for Global Production Award

Tampa’s film commission is in the running for the 2026 City of Film Award.

Screen International’s Global Production Awards is recognizing Film Tampa Bay for its contribution to the local film industry. Tampa’s film commission is shortlisted alongside six other international film offices for the coveted City of Film Award. This award will be presented to the film office whose work displays excellence in delivering filmmaker support, fostering local skill development, and boosting the local economy. This is Film Tampa Bay’s second nomination for the Global Production Awards. Previously, they were a finalist for the 2024 Best Emerging Location Award.

“It’s an honor to be considered for this award. Our operating budget and team are significantly smaller than those of the commissions we’re competing against, and this recognition highlights our continued ability to punch well above our weight. Film Tampa Bay delivers best-in-class marketing and business development while competing with internationally renowned filming destinations,” said Tyler Martinolich, Film Commissioner and CEO of Film Tampa Bay.

The Global Production Awards are annual honors recognizing outstanding and sustainable production work that brings our favorite films to life. This year’s nominees include international production studios and Oscar-winning projects such as Hamnet and Frankenstein.

This recognition comes after a year of transformation for Tampa’s film industry. Film Tampa Bay has been hard at work launching new community initiatives, developing a robust production pipeline, and embracing new storytelling mediums. Meanwhile, Hillsborough County is investing in studio spaces for film production. With these innovations, Film Tampa Bay will build lasting infrastructure for a healthy screen production industry.

The 2026 winners will be announced during an award ceremony at the Cannes Film Festival on Monday, May 18th.
