‘Wednesday’ Renewed for Season 3

After a three-year wait, season 2 of Wednesday is finally arriving on Netflix in just two weeks. What’s more, Netflix has ordered season 3 before we’ve set eyes on season 2. Netflix took to X to announce the news this morning.

This comes as a welcome surprise after the long hiatus following Wednesday‘s wildly successful season 1, which premiered in November 2022. The delay was partly due to the historic SAG-AFTRA and Writers Guild of America strikes in 2023 and was exacerbated by cast scheduling conflicts.

In addition to a third season, a spin-off series is in the works. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Wednesday director Tim Burton and star Jenna Ortega dropped the news. But for the moment, the details of the project remain top secret, according to THR.

Wednesday, based on The Addams Family, is a gothic murder mystery that follows the titular character (Jenna Ortega) as she settles into Nevermore Academy. Season 2 will continue her journey at Nevermore Academy, but this time with her family entering the fold. Wednesday’s brother, Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez), arrives on campus, and their folks are keeping a close watch. Wednesday must balance family dynamics with her newfound fame at Nevermore Academy — and the shocking visions of the death of her roommate.

Wednesday season 2 will be released on Netflix in two parts, with Part 1 premiering on August 6 and Part 2 on September 3.
